Head of 20th Century Fox Music and composer; brother of Lionel Newman and Emil Newman, father of David Newman, Thomas Newman and Maria Newman, uncle of Randy Newman. Born March 17, 1900 and died February, 17 1970. He collected 9 Oscars for the soundtracks he wrote, most of them for 20th Century Fox movies. He also wrote the well-known 20th Century Fox fanfare that is played at the start of 20th Century Fox movies. His last score was "Airport" in 1969.
